Blog Group Challenge - Competing Princesses

So here is our latest installment in my blog groups challenge. This is the last entry for this round, and I really hope we do it again. It was so much fun.

Sorry I'm a few days late, but we've had no internet all week... Thank goodness I had set up a few things before hand to post so that my blog wasn't so lonely.

Our sender this month was AnnMarie.... don't you just love this fantastic punch art that she created.. the poodle is soo cute!

I added the beige back ground and the white layers. I realized after I had put the card together that I had dropped the ribbon on the floor. Sorry AM!

Lego!!

Here are a couple more of my quick and easy layouts from our trip last summer. The Lego paper is printed with the yellow legos down the side and it is also embossed you you can feel the raised dots all over the paper - very cool!

The larger than life size Lego is actually in Downtown Disney and the gigantic Einstein head was at Legoland.

Jungle Cruise

Received these pages in a Disney swap I hosted on Splitcoast Stampers.

There were created by "Shelly Suit". It was very cool to actually meet here while both of our families were at Disneyland.

Critter Challenge #36

Hey folks.. thanks for swinging by and checking out my post.. unfortunately my internet at home has gone down, and we've managed to find a very low, unsecured internet line that has allowed me to sneak on my hubby's computer - its is the only one that is picking up the internet.

I'll get this updated tomorrow at work, but wanted to try and at least have the photo uploaded.

Please make sure you check out the Critter Sketch Challenge Blog.

Take Him Down

So.. Brayden loved the idea of playing football, but didn't love the whole physical aspect of it.

However last season he played, but didn't do a whole lot.

I was so stoked to get this tackle on film!

Super Star in the Making

These are some of my most favourite photos of Carsyn playing football last season.

More Disney Pages

So these aren't my most favourite pieces of work.. but I really feel that sometimes we need to just slap a layout together. They can't all be fancy pages... at least not in my world. For one thing.. I can't afford to do fancy layouts every single time. My sister and I call the fancy layouts $10 pages... and if every page cost me $10.. I wouldn't be a scrapbooker.

Giraffes

I love this DCVW stack.. it's called Safari Kids and the paper is fabulous. Much of it is glittered and it just perfect for our trip to San Diego Zoo.. I used the same paper back a week or so ago when I did the layout of the elephants.

Paper is all DCVW except the mats, which is Bazzill. The border is matted on Bazzill as are the little squares. The squares have been popped up. Everything has been inked with Versa - Pine Cone.. have I mentioned lately how I love this little ink pad for adding a little bit of texture to the edges of my mats.

Whalers Hockey

A quick and easy layout to showcase some of Brayden's hockey pictures.

I love the printed paper that looks like the hockey rink.

More from the NHL Legends

I'm not sure why I can't just scrap one set of pages from any event that we go to... or any event for that matter. I always seem to have at least 4 pages, usually more of the same event. I mean I've already done 110 pages (for each boy - a total of 220) from our Disney trip in 2009 and I'm still not even close to being done.. I've got 500 photos from our ONE day at Universal Studios that I want to scrap. I desperately need to learn how to cull photos!

Anyone have any tips? I'd love to hear them.

RCMP VS NHL Legends

Here are some pictures from when our local RCMP hockey team played the NHL legends. It was so cool to see some of my heroes up close and in person.

Pucks for Pets

Here is a fairly simple layout.

I cut the title out on the Cricut and then took a white pen to outline the letters. It looks a little shake because of the texture of the paper... but I think it looks cool... kind of like what the ice looks like after it has been skated on.

Cherry On Top Blog Award

Ok... so I'm a little late posting this.. but I had saved the email for me to deal with it when I had more time.. but the email got buried... so today when I was cleaning out my email I found it again and thought I'd better deal with it right away.

I am truly honoured to have received such an award... it really makes both paper crafting and blogging worthwhile when people recognize you for it.

So.........

1.Thank the person who sent it to you.
That would be Emily
.

2. Copy award to your blog.
3. List 3 things you love about yourself.
a: I love that I was strong enough to go back to school at age 30 to finally become a teacher, something I had wanted to be since I was about 5 years old.
b: I love that I was strong enough to understand that even though I couldn't have children naturally, I could still have children through adoption. I am thankful every single day for my two boys.
c: I love that I have finally found my creative side. I have always thought I was the least artistic person out there, but really I just needed to find my passion, I LOVE that I'm a scrapbooker and I'm not afraid to tell anyone!

4. Post a picture you love.

Well.. since you see lots of pictures of my family through my layouts... I thought I'd share a picture of our furry family member. This is Queen Ratifa. She is a teddy bear h
amster. I've never been a big "rodent" fan, but after an unexpected hamster-sitting, we all fell in love with the idea of a hamster. Rat-girl chose my husband, when we were at the pet store she crawled up his chest and curled up under his chin - so cute! She's a super smart girl and provides us with hours and hours of entertainment.

5. Send the award to 5 blogs you love.

1. Marsha - I want to be a card designer like Marsha when I grow up. How can you not love everything she does. Simply amazes me every time I look at her blog!

2.
Melina - I absolutely love how Melina makes CAS classy. When I try to do CAS it looks cheap and crappy. Nothing Melina ever does looks cheap and crappy. Whether it is a card or a scrapbook layout it always looks fantastic!!

3. Melanie - Melanie is not only an amazing crafter she is an amazing friend. Even though we live in different countries on opposite sides of the continent I feel like if we were closer in proximity we would be the best of friends.

4. April - I admire April so much. She lives in a foreign country with out any family or her closest friends. She manages to keep sane while raising two adorable children. She is about to up and move to another foreign country all while supporting her military husband. I have mad respect for a girl who gives so much of her self to everyone else. Oh.. and she's got mad talent for cards as well.

5.
Terria - A talented scrapbooker/cardmaker. I love that she has just started making videos of her creations. I always get inspiration when looking at her blog.

Adopted in Love

This was the first picture we received of our boys. I remember getting a phone call from my very excited husband telling me he had a picture. I was out of town. I made him scan the photo in and email it to me.

I cried.

The funny part about the picture, when we looked at it, we both said.. Carsyn (on the left) looks like a mischievous little devil.. and figured he would be the one to give us a run for our money... little did we know it would be the complete opposite and Brayden who has been our child who has pushed the limits.

When I look at this picture now I am just how amazed at how far they have come. I love them more and more every day.

Finally used these swap pages

So.. I received these two pages, in a swap over 2 years ago when I first started scrapbooking.

I finally got some pictures to put on them.

This picture is from this spring when we were on the ferry heading to a Canucks game.

This picture was from the first summer the boys were here. We took them to the local race track.

King Richard

So.. my kids had no clue who he was.. but I was excited for weeks when I found out the "King" Richard Brodeur was coming to our community. I was even more excited when I found out that we would be helping the event that he was here for and I seriously didn't sleep the night before. For those of you who don't know who he is, he was the goalie for the Vancouver Canucks when the Canucks went to the Stanley Cup finals in 1982. He is the reason I LOVE hockey.

Swap Pages

Here are a couple of pages I did for a recent swap on Splitcoast Stampers.

Zoo: The PP is from DCVW and the other paper is all Bazzill, bling and swiss dot. I cut the title from Animal Kingdom and layered it three times.

Waterpark: This is a mix of paper from my stash. I used Cricut Design Studio and the Carousel Cartridge to stretch and thin out the water slide. I cut the sun by hand.

Critter Challenge #34

So sorry I was late getting this updated, I really didn't expect to get home as late as we did, but we missed a ferry which put us 3 hours behind getting home.

Here we go........... Here is my take on this weeks challenge. I knew as soon as I saw this sketch that it would be perfect for a scrapbook page... and you all know I do way more scrapbooking than card making. So.. this is me 4 years ago when I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree. I went back to school at age 30 and eventually graduated in 2007 with both a BA and a Bachelor of Education Degree.

Over at the Critter Sketch Challenge blog we have lots of things happening... first of all I'm delighted to say I have been chosen to stay on the Design Team for another term. But this also means we have a few new members and said goodbye to a few friends.

Bo Bunny Challenge

Last week on their Facebook page, Bo Bunny issued a challenge... here is what they posted...

Challenge time everyone !!!!!!! you want a chance to win a prize with Bo Bunny goodies ?! all you have to do is making a scraplift of this beautiful page from Juliana Michaels, using your fav Bo Bunny stuff. But that's not all ! haha! perhaps you didn't know but i am from France, and i want you to write your title in Fre...nch !! that's right !! in French :)

Here is what I came up with.

My French title, "mon fils" means "My Son".

The brown is "Shitake Dot" and the cream and red are the back and front of "Tis the Season". I love how I was able to take a Christmas paper and use it on a non-Christmas layout. These pictures were taken at my best friends wedding in August 2009.

BC Crop for Kids Day 2

If you saw my post yesterday you will know that I'm busy working away at the BC Crop for Kids in Abbotsford.

Here is another page from last year's event. This paper was so cool - the organizers had paper printed with the BC Crop for Kids logo printed right onto the page.

BC Crop for Kids

So this weekend, I have headed over to Abbotsford for the annual BC Crop for Kids.

I went for the first time last year, with my sister Megan and sister in law Lisa.... we had an absolute blast. I had so much fun, that in three days I only completed 9 pages. Ooops! Oh well, we raised money for a great cause.

This cause is important to our family because my newphew, Lisa's son Matt, has spent a lot of time there, he has Cerebral Palsy, but in all honesty, looking at him you wouldn't know it, he has grown into a very healthy (almost) 20 year old.

Here is a layout that I did of our time there...
